A Life Beginning On A Strange Shore

What life is this
What island I'm from
Islands not as we know them
Of no man's land
Of prison colonies
Could I wade through sand and
find the quick is bouyant
what strange shore is this
that forswears the mother
to find her in my own breast
as I've depleted many others
this heart is opening
and all the furniture
is floating away
all the monograms and
oculars
I swear every day
To shower this balm
Of worthless knowing
Into apple blossoms for your
Love
I embrace you, walk through you
With a smile of my eye
In your eye and
A thousand eyes
in one I
petal by petal
you grow more beautiful
this life staring back at me
is a bridge, quartz
dives through rock
time moving backward
to surface into ringing air
from the roof of the world
this is the burial ground
of the old flame
this is the birth of everything
